For the last couple of days, I have been hearing what kind of planning people should do to make 2020 a year of change, excitement, less hassle, making today count, be present, declutter, focus – you get the picture.
In 2020, I would like to try to focus your interest in another direction. For the next twelve months I am planning to give you true stories from my experiences and illustrate how insurance can help to protect your family, yourself, your nest egg, etc. I also want to make you more comfortable with the idea of insurance being part of your overall financial strategy. The stories will all be true stories with the names changed to protect the innocent.
I’ll begin with the year 1993. A man received a statement in the mail for a life insurance policy. He showed the policy statement to his wife and told her “If anything ever happens to me, this is the company that is insuring me and this policy will take care of paying for my funeral expenses and anything else that needs to be taken care of.” Three days later, the man was watching the Eagles game on TV and enjoying a fresh piece of his favorite lemon meringue pie when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Insurance proceeds were enough to cover all funeral expenses as well as any other expenses. He had planned ahead to protect his family, and lo and behold the timing of events was incredible.
I encourage you to sit down with a seasoned agent who you can trust to help you to review your current strategy and make sure your love ones are protected when the unexpected should happen.
